It is experiences from hurtful relationships that caused your wounds, and it takes new experiences with safe, caring people to bring healing. As Troy shares this morning, the good thing is that the church is the best place to provide those new experiences with safe, caring people. What works in restoring a broken life is when one person invests in another person by means of a relationship. 

The most important thing in life is relationships; the hardest thing in life is relationships. And while it's experiences from hurtful relationships that caused our wounds, it takes new experiences with safe, caring people to bring healing. The good thing is that the church is the best place for that. This requires, however, that we make the church a safe place for hurting people. And doing that begins with  you, and it begins with me.

Since our country will celebrate Independence Day in a couple of days, Troy talks about the concept of freedom, specifically the ways in which we have true freedom in Christ, and how that contrasts with the typical ideas people have about freedom. Many of the things that we believe give us freedom, actually enslave us and imprison us. Ironically, there's a type of "slavery" or "willing surrender" that gives us genuine freedom.

The Christian life is a series of new beginnings, of falling down and getting up again. When we stumble, we often think, "I've failed again. I might as well give up." But God is the God of new beginnings. He not only forgives our sins, but He also uses our failures to make us wiser.
