You Are Not God (and Neither is Anyone Else)
By: Troy Burns
To kick off our new series, Troy reminds us that following God’s rules gives us great freedom, the only true freedom there really is. He also helps us understand that God’s people do not earn their position by obeying His commandments; rather, God gives us commandments because we are already His people. Regarding God’s first commandment, we must have no other gods before us, meaning there should be nothing we want more than God, nothing we rely on more than God, and nothing we look to for greater fulfillment than God.

Jun 16, 2019What Would My Dad Do Here?By: Troy BurnsSeries: StandaloneFor this year's Father’s Day message, Troy shares what he hopes his kids will say about him one day. He also focuses on the truth that God is our Father, and for everyone who is a follower of Jesus, whether or not you’re a dad, and whatever experience you had (or didn’t have) with your dad, there are some things we should want the world to say about us, because God is our Father.

Jun 2, 2019Meant to Live for So Much MoreBy: Troy BurnsSeries: StandaloneWhether we realize it or not, we all have a purpose and we all give our lives to something. But do we settle for less than God has for us? When we know our purpose, all of our day-to-day decisions are pretty easy to figure out. And we actually all have the same purpose: to go and make disciples of all nations. We may have different jobs, educational pursuits, family responsibilities, life situations, etc., but these serve as our platforms for carrying out our primary purpose of making disciples.

May 26, 2019The Free Gift that Costs EverythingBy: Troy BurnsSeries: StandaloneIn a message for the Memorial Day holiday, Troy shares about “The Free Gift That Costs Everything.” We want to honor the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military, who gave their very lives to secure, and to preserve, our freedom as Americans. That was a free gift to all of us who are still here to enjoy what they made possible, but it’s really not free; it cost everything to those who gave their lives. And there’s another gift that’s free to us, but really isn’t free. It cost Jesus everything, and if we decide to follow Him, it will cost us everything.

May 19, 2019Don’t Forget About the LoavesBy: Mark ThometzSeries: StandaloneMark Thometz, who grew up in our church and youth group, and is now preaching in southern California, presents a message reminding us of God’s power and the fact that we can invite that power into our lives through prayer. If Jesus can turn two fish and five small loaves of bread into a hearty meal for thousands of people, He can certainly give us the strength we need to endure the storms of our lives. We just can’t forget about the loaves.

May 12, 2019The Hardest Job You’ll Ever LoveBy: Troy BurnsSeries: StandaloneFor Mother's Day, we remember that being a mom is so tough, and so awesome. Moms can relate to the idea that motherhood is “The Hardest Job You’ll Ever Love.” On the other hand, we want to honor mothers without alienating others who may not be moms, perhaps by choice, but also due to life circumstances. Something we can all remember are the attributes of moms that are also character qualities of God, including comfort, security, healing, sacrifice, training, and faith.

Apr 28, 2019Whose Money Is It, Anyway?By: Troy BurnsTo answer the question posed in today's message, we need to realize that God has placed the most difficult step right at the beginning, as the foundation for everything else. Once we take this step—understanding and surrendering to the fact that God owns everything and provides all that we need—the other steps will fall into place. And if we truly believe that everything is ultimately from God, it becomes easier to give back to Him and to others.

Apr 21, 2019It’s Not Over: An Easter Message of HopeBy: Troy BurnsDon’t we all love comeback stories? Don’t we love the idea of second chances and getting a shot at redemption? Don’t we all mess up terribly sometimes, and want to have hope, and never give up, and return to a great place in our lives? For our Easter Sunday message, Troy shares how we can have this kind of hope because Jesus not only died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins, He also rose again to make it possible for us to have a new life now and the promise of eternal life in heaven.
